Three young people set car on fire at gas station in Gravenhurst, Ont.

When there’s smoke at a gas station, there’s danger.

Provincial police were called to a Muskoka Road gas station on Sunday shortly after 6:40 p.m.

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say three people – older teenagers or young adults – pushed a small black Suzuki car towards the gas pumps at the station.

When they got close enough to the pump, one person began dispensing gas into the car.

While that was happening, another young person lit the fuel on fire.

This caused the car to immediately catch fire.

Police say the station attendant quickly shut down the fuel supply to the gas pump and arrived with a fire extinguisher to douse the flame.

“This incident was quite dangerous and had the potential to cause significant harm as well as property damage,” said the police statement.
