Officials are investigating after dead geese were found at the Tottenham Conservation Area, with testing now underway to determine what may have caused the deaths. The Town of New Tecumseth says it is working with the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority and the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative following the discovery in the area of Tottenham Pond. According to the town, a sample collected from the pond has been delivered to the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative for analysis. Results from that testing are pending. “The Town of New Tecumseth is working with the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority and Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative on appropriate next steps,” the municipality stated in a notice on Wednesday. “Thank you to those who reported a presence of deceased geese at the Tottenham Conservation Area.” At this time, no additional details have been released about how many geese were found dead. The town didn’t provided a timeline for when test results are expected. The Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative is a national organization that works with partners across the country to investigate wildlife health issues.
