Summer festival in Newmarket for the family

Get ready to soak up the sun in the last days of summer as Summerfest on Main transforms Historic Main Street in Newmarket into a hangout for the whole family.

The four-day festival will include headlining concerts, a silent disco and a Saturday morning coffee party.

Organizers say the event aims to showcase local businesses and talent, with shopping and dining incentives available to attendees. Those who spend $50 at downtown businesses can earn a $25 Choose Local gift card.

Main Street will be closed to traffic from Water Street to Park Avenue during the festival. The event will feature food and drink vendors, as well as live performances.

Summerfest on Main started Thursday and runs:

• Friday, Aug. 22: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 23: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug. 24: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
