‘Purrfect Night’ gala raises thousands for felines in need

The Furry Friends Animal Shelter held their 'Purrfect Night' gala to raise funds for the nearly 500 cats and kittens that they rescue each year.

Saturday was a ‘purrfect night’ to help felines in need as the Furry Friends Animal Shelter held its ‘Purrfect Night’ gala in Barrie to support local efforts to rescue cats and kittens.

“It’s been very successful. We’ve had over 120 people come to our gala this evening and our silent auction is doing fabulous,” said Susan Bartley, president of the Furry Friends Animal Shelter. “All of our funds go back to cats and kittens and pregnant moms in our shelter.”

The event raised more than $4,000 and had the goal of raising $8,000.

“75 per cent of our bills are vet bills to get cats adoption-ready to go to their forever home,” added Bartley.

The shelter’s volunteers help rescue, rehabilitate and find new homes for nearly 500 cats each year.
