OPP seeks public help with probe into fire that damaged 2 houses

A fire ripped through two residential buildings on West Street South in Huntsville on Wed., Oct. 1, 2025.

Provincial police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a house fire in Huntsville that spread to a neighbouring residence, causing considerable damage.

Fire crews were called to the house fire at 43 West Street South on Wednesday, and battled flames for more than eight hours.

Officials say the residents evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Police say the fire is believed to have started on the north side of the home, but as it grew out of control, it spread to the adjacent home. They are hoping the public can provide information or video footage from the start of the fire, not from when the structure was engulfed by the blaze.

OPP says the investigation is in the early stages, with no further information available.
