OPP seek tips after wrong-way tractor trailer causes multi-vehicle crash on Highway 400

Provincial police are appealing for information about a wrong-way tractor-trailer on Highway 400 in Barrie one week ago that left the scene after reportedly causing a multi-vehicle collision.

Police say a red truck pulling two blue open trailers got onto the northbound lanes of Highway 400 from the Barrie ONroute going the wrong way on Nov. 18 around 7 a.m.

According to the OPP Highway Safety Division, the driver then performed a U-turn on the highway, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles.

Provincial police say the driver of the tractor trailer continued heading northbound, leaving the scene.

Police are looking for any dash cam footage taken between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Nov. 18 to help with the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Aurora Detachment of the OPP.
