The Ontario government is injecting over $2.6 million into New Tecumseth to help upgrade roads, bridges, water, and wastewater systems. Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson announced the investment Tuesday as part of the 2026 Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). “The Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund is a vital program that helps municipalities across Simcoe-Grey invest in the essential infrastructure our communities rely on every day,” said Saunderson. In total, New Tecumseth will receive $2,650,503 in funding, the largest allocation among municipalities in the Simcoe-Grey riding. “This investment will help us move forward with critical infrastructure projects that improve the quality of life for our residents and strengthen the resilience of our community,” stated Mayor Richard Norcross. The riding as a whole will get $12,890,561 in OCIF funding for 2026: Plus the County of Simcoe, which will receive $4,151,285. This investment is part of Ontario’s broader $200 billion capital plan aimed at strengthening the province’s economy and protecting communities. The OCIF program specifically supports small and rural municipalities with populations under 100,000.
