Influenza outbreak at Alliston hospital declared over

Stevenson Memorial Hospital has confirmed that the influenza outbreak on the Medical/Surgical Unit, first declared on Nov. 14, has officially come to an end.

With the outbreak resolved, staff says regular visitation is now open for patients on the unit.

All close contacts were notified during the upsurge, and enhanced cleaning has been implemented along with additional infection prevention and control measures, including additional influenza testing.

The hospital asks that anyone feeling unwell or experiencing respiratory symptoms avoid visiting until they are better.

People seeking care in the emergency department with symptoms is reminded by health officials to wear a hospital-provided mask upon arrival.
