Barrie & District Christmas Cheer is sending out one final plea to the community to make sure no family is left behind this Christmas. Only three days are left with the fundraiser wrapping up at the end of the week and the call is urgent. Christmas Cheer has raised $320,915, which is around $179,000 shy of its $500,000 fundraising goal. “As the clock winds down, the need feels more urgent than ever,” said Sandra Yaquo, President of Barrie & District Christmas Cheer. “Behind every application is a family trying their best in incredibly difficult circumstances. We are so grateful for the support we’ve received so far, but with just three days left, we are asking our community to rally one more time so that every child and every family experiences the warmth and dignity of Christmas.” 2,100 families across Barrie, Innisfil, Angus, Springwater, and Oro-Medonte have applied for help this holiday season. The annual fundraiser saw a large increase in families applying for assistance and for the first time in the organization’s 51 years of running, applications had to be closed early due to the high demand.
