What started as an unfortunate accident has turned into a heartwarming tale with a happy ending. In early October, 10-year-old Kaleb from New Tecumseth was riding his bike home from school when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle. While police say his injuries were significant, thanks to his helmet and what Nottawasaga OPP say was a fast emergency response, he had a speedy recovery. Police say in a follow-up visit, they discovered the boy’s favourite hockey team was the Winnipeg Jets. They say they were inspired to recognize his strength and bravery and it just so happened that one of the officers had a personal connection to the team. So, they made magic happen and got a signed jersey from one of his favourite players. Nottawasaga OPP invited the boy and his family for a station tour where he hung out in a police cruiser, visited the cell block, and shared some laughs with the officers. To top it off, the tour wrapped up with a presentation of the signed jersey, resulting in a young face “lit up with joy and disbelief.”
