CTV News Windsor spent two hours Tuesday at the foot of the Gordie Howe International Bridge to chat with Americans as they entered Windsor. Over the course of that time, approximately 20 Americans rode their bikes into Windsor. All of them stopped to chat, but only seven agreed to interviews on camera. The rest cited fear of reprisal from American authorities for speaking their minds. “He treats his friends like enemies, and his enemies like friends,” ‘John’ told CTV News. “I’m ashamed of my country,” a woman said. Over the course of the two hours, just two Americans said they were Trump supporters who are glad the American president is hyper focused on the U.S. economy. And all the people CTV News talked to agreed the sentiment towards Canada and Canadians is likely more favourable in border communities, versus places in middle America.
