Driver sustains life-threatening injuries in crash involving school bus

A serious collision between a school bus and a pickup truck shutdown a portion of Highway 10 in the Markdale area.

Emergency crews responded to a crash along Highway 10 in the Markdale area Monday morning.

According to Grey Bruce OPP, the detachment received a report before 8:30 a.m. of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 10 at Sideroad 70 in Chatsworth Township.

Police confirmed that the incident involved a school bus and pickup truck and that two students from the bus were hospitalized.

The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to a London trauma centre after sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Highway 10 was closed between Sideroad 60 and Sideroad 80 as crews worked on the scene. Sideroad 70 also remained closed between the East Back Line and the West Back Line. Drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or with relevant footage of the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact Grey Bruce OPP.

All roads have since reopened.
