Handgun, iron bar allegedly flashed in Huntsville apartment dispute

A 39-year-old Huntsville man is facing multiple charges after police responded to a reported weapons incident at a home Monday evening.

Provincial police were called to an apartment on Main Street West around 6:45 p.m., following a 911 call reporting weapons involved in a dispute.

Officers say the accused went to the victim’s apartment, where an argument broke out. During the incident, the man allegedly brandished both a handgun and an iron bar.

No injuries were reported, and officers took the accused into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, the man has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, failure to comply with an undertaking, pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the courts in February. Huntsville police say the incident was isolated and there is no threat to public safety.
