Trains are chugging along at a slower pace than usual these days. As intense heat and humid conditions continue across Simcoe County, GO Transit is letting riders know that arrival times for some trips could be delayed by 10 to 15 minutes or even cancelled. The transit service says during extended periods of extreme heat, it is required to run trains at slower speeds to ensure safety of everyone aboard. The team does heat-related track patrols to inspect the rails before every trip. GO Transit is advising riders to bring enough water for their trips as not all GO stations have food or beverage options. The key message from GO is to plan ahead and give yourself extra time. Simcoe County is currently under an orange heat warning issued by Environment Canada.
