The Township of Essa officially declared an Extreme Weather Event on Thursday to tackle the ongoing snowstorm impacting the area, but just one day later, it was lifted. “Road and weather conditions have improved, and Public Works crews have made significant progress in clearing priority routes,” the Township stated on Friday morning. “Snow removal operations will continue throughout the day as crews work to restore normal service levels across the Township.” Declaring an Extreme Weather Event allows the township to focus its efforts on keeping roads clear and safe. During an Extreme Weather Event, residents are advised to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary, drive carefully if they must head out, and give snowplows plenty of room to do their jobs. Several municipal facilities were closed Thursday due to inclement weather, including the administration centre, libraries, and the youth centre.
