The City of Barrie says work needed on a section of Highway 400 will require a month-long shutdown to complete. Starting Aug. 4, the city is shutting down the Hwy. 400 northbound off-ramp to eastbound Dunlop Street. Known otherwise as exit 96A, the off-ramp is scheduled to remain closed for 30 days as the city and the Ministry of Transportation continue work on replacing the Dunlop Street bridge. During the time of the closure, exit 96B, the northbound off-ramp to westbound Dunlop Street, will remain open. Drivers wanting to access Dunlop Street east will be redirected to use the Essa Road off-ramp and follow detour signs along Essa Road and Anne Street. As part of the replacement project, the province says it plans to expand the bridge crossing at Dunlop Street over Hwy. 400 and widen the interchange to support future expansion of the highway.
