Police arrested and charged a man from Kleinburg accused of leaving the scene of an accident while impaired. South Simcoe police say the incident happened on Monday night on Holland Street East in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Police say officers responded to a report about a dangerous driver spotted swerving into oncoming traffic before slamming into a parked vehicle. Video obtained from a surveillance camera along Holland Street appears to show a grey Toyota RAV4 barrelling down the road. The brake lights appear seconds before it slams into the back of a vehicle parked on the side of the road. The vehicle is then driven away from the scene. “Officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later travelling on Holland Street West and subsequently arrested the driver,” the service stated, adding they found evidence of drug use inside the SUV. “Every choice behind the wheel can impact you, your passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians,” police noted, adding, “Dangerous and impaired driving behaviours put the entire community at risk.” The accused faces charges of careless driving, failing to stop after an accident, flight from a peace officer, and driving with cannabis readily available.
