Driver, 19, charged with being impaired after crashing into traffic signal: OPP

A 19-year-old driver accused of being impaired after crashing into a traffic signal in Alliston has been charged.

Provincial police say the single-vehicle collision happened Tuesday around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Industrial Parkway, east of Church Street.

Police say the vehicle had slammed into the traffic signal positioned in the centre median of the road.

The driver, a woman from New Tecumseth, was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with driving while impaired with a blood alcohol level over 80, and will have to appear in court to answer to the offence.
