Colts hang on against 67’s in Game 4, take 3-1 series lead

The Barrie Colts are now one win away from returning to the third round of the OHL playoffs after defeating the Ottawa 67’s Thursday night 3-2 in the nation’s capital.

The Colts scored three straight goals to jump ahead to a 3-0 lead.

Carter Lowe opened the scoring with a power play marker with just over five minutes left in the first period.

In the second, Emil Hemming scored his seventh goal of the postseason to make it 2-0 for Barrie.

The Colts power play clicked again just before the midway point of the third period, as Joe Salandra gave Barrie a 3-0 lead.

The 67’s would get goals from Nic Sima and Frankie Marrelli with less than four minutes left to narrow the score to 3-2. But their comeback attempt fell short, as the Colts prevailed 3-2.

Ben Hrebik, Colts goaltender, made 33 saves on 35 shots.

With the win, the Colts have pushed the 67’s to the brink of elimination as the series returns to Barrie for Game 5 Saturday night.

Puck drop is just after 7:30 p.m. at Sadlon Arena.

Should the 67’s win, Game 6 is scheduled on Sunday at 5 p.m. back in Ottawa.
