The sounds and sights of OPP helicopters were present in Orillia today as investigators search for a wanted suspect. A large police presence was seen on Barrie Road as officers conducted a targeted search tied to an ongoing criminal investigation. The Orillia OPP detachment says it is looking for a man wanted in connection with the case and are using the OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and the OPP helicopter. At this time, police confirm the identity of the individual is known, but he was not located during the search. Due to the nature of the investigation, his identity is not being released. Officials say there is no threat to public safety. The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP.
