CMV safety blitz in Clearview leads to nearly 30 charges for violations: OPP

OPP and the Ministry of Transportation conduct commercial vehicle safety blitz on Thurs., Oct. 23, 2025, in Clearview Township.

A joint enforcement blitz in Clearview Township led to dozens of charges against commercial drivers this week, after Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Transportation cracked down on unsafe trucks.

According to the Huronia West OPP, the three-hour operation on Thursday near 12-13 Sideroad Nottawasaga and Highway 26 involved six commercial motor vehicles inspections. Two were immediately taken off the road because of what police described as “significant safety concerns.”

In total, police say 29 charges were laid under various provincial regulations, including insecure loads, brake system defects, overweight vehicles, and improper documentation.

Police said the inspection was part of ongoing efforts to keep local roads safe by identifying and removing unsafe commercial vehicles from service.

The OPP regularly partners with the Ministry of Transportation on these types of joint enforcement operations, which target both compliance and education in the commercial driving sector. Officers routinely check vehicles for mechanical safety, weight limits, proper load securement, and valid documentation.
