With the holiday season coming to a close and the first full work week of the new year about to begin, Barrie residents are reminded to prepare their Christmas trees for curbside collection. The City of Barrie posted a social media reminder on Friday, advising residents to make sure that their tree is free from any decorations and placed curbside by 7 a.m. on their regular collection day. The city says the collection contractor may adjust vehicle routing but confirmed that trees will be collected before the end of the day on Friday. Other guidelines laid out by the city include: Trees can also be dropped off at the landfill site on Ferndale Drive North free of charge. The city reminds that yard waste, including fresh garland or other holiday greenery cannot be collected with Christmas trees.
