A bear has died after being struck by a vehicle in Tiny Township earlier this week. Police say officers with the Southern Georgian Bay detachment were called to the scene of a crash on Concession 11 around 10 a.m. Monday. “The collision resulted in property damage to the vehicle,” said OPP. “The bear, a large adult male, was located near the scene and found to be suffering from significant injuries.” Adding, “Unfortunately it needed to be put down by police.” Afterwards, officers say they worked with local Indigenous community partners to ensure the animal was respectfully harvested. The driver was uninjured in the crash. No further details on this incident have been released by OPP. Police are reminding drivers to stay alert, slow down in rural and wooded areas and watch for wildlife, especially during early morning and evening hours when animals are most active.
