Barrie Baycats look to take the lead in IBL Championship Series against Welland Jackfish

The Barrie Baycats are back in action Thursday night as they look to take the lead in game three of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) championship final against the Welland Jackfish.

Game two was quite the nail-biter. A tight, low-scoring showdown that went into extra innings.

The crowd went wild as the Baycats walked off the field Wednesday night with a well-earned victory. Their championship hopes remain on track as the team secured a 5–4 win in 10 innings at Athletic Kulture Stadium.

Welland led the way in the first inning when Jonah Weisner lifted a leadoff solo home run to right field off Barrie starter Cesar Rosado.

The decisive moment came in the bottom of the 10th when Francisco Hernandez smashed the first pitch he saw from Welland closer Deivy Mendez over the left-field fence.

Fans roared as the Baycats flooded the field with excitement and pride, celebrating a much-needed bounce-back victory.

McGarry Doyle closed the evening with two hits, two runs scored, and a home run. Hernandez added two hits and three runs scored, while Clarke drove in two.

Thursday, the Baycats hit the road to Welland for a crucial game three. The first pitch gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
