Arrests made in Barrie’s south end as part of drug trafficking investigation

Barrie police arrested two men after executing search warrants in the city’s southeast end in connection with a lengthy drug trafficking investigation.

Police sya officers with the tactical support unit took a 23-year-old man and a 31-year-old man into custody without incident on Tuesday.

Both men face cocaine and fentanyl possession and trafficking charges.

"These types of investigations are complex and often require specialized resources and techniques to take those responsible into custody and held accountable for their actions," Barrie Police Services stated in a Wednesday release. “Planning, preparation and a measured police response are paramount to ensuring public safety and these factors were incorporated in both of yesterday’s arrests.”

Police say no further information will be released “due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.”
