Another Gravenhurst store theft results in charges, police say

Following a string of thefts in Gravenhurst between December and February that ended in the arrest of a Gravenhurst couple, police investigated another theft resulting in charges.

OPP says officers started the investigation at a store on Muskoka Road South on Thursday afternoon. Police say store staff confronted a Gravenhurst man, 33, who then took items from the store and left on foot.

Police say people in the community kept track of the suspect from a safe distance.

When officers arrived on scene minutes later, police say the suspect started experiencing a medical emergency and was transported to hospital in police custody.

The man was charged with theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
