$1.1 million pothole project underway along County Road 10

Between construction and repairs an already hectic time is getting busier on our local roads.

The county is completing a micro-surfacing project along County Road 10 in Angus after last year’s work failed to hold up.

The project will cost roughly $1.1 million and should be done by the end of the month. While similar projects are taking place in several communities across the region a big focus right now is on pot holes.

“I popped a tire. What was it about three weeks ago… four weeks ago… and I haven’t replaced it. I just put my summers on but they are horrible, horrible it’s dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge,” shared another local.

In Barrie, crews are using a hot mix along Veterans Drive by McKay Road.

“So what’s happened over the spring, the edge of the road has broken away so we are just out here with some hot asphalt so we are re-building the side of the road and hopefully make it safer for everybody to drive,” said Dave Friary with the City of Barrie.

The City of Barrie says it has already repaired and fixed thousands of pot holes. That number is expected to inflate to roughly 20,000 by the end of the summer. Vehicle repair shops say there has been no shortage of drivers pulling in with dented or broken cars after crashing through a pot hole.

“They will take the alignment out of your car,” said another local.
