A man from P.E.I. has claimed a $1 million prize from the Lotto Max draw. The lotto announced the win on Monday, saying Michael Collins of Montague claimed the May 1 Lotto Max prize. “It’s quite the feeling,” Collins said in a news release. “I’ve never experienced it before obviously and might not ever again and I’m going to enjoy it.” Collins, who works in transportation and harvests potatoes each fall, says the win will allow him to slow down a bit. He plans to save most of the winnings but will share some with family and take a few bucket list trips to see some of his favourite sport teams. “I’m a good age for this to happen, not too young and not too old, since the window of retirement is usually right around the corner for someone my age,” Collins said. “I still work with some fellas who are 70 and I probably would have been one of those fellas too but now I’ll get to do that much earlier.” The Circle K in Montague, P.E.I., where Collins bought the ticket, will also receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
