A couple of Halifax homeowners known for their elaborate Christmas light displays are now counting the dollars raised for charities. Nick Giacomantonio has been putting up the light display at his home for 23 years and he says every year it gets bigger. “It’s a lot of work to put it up, but when it’s done and you get the see the looks on people’s faces and the enjoyment, that makes it all worth it,” said Giacomantonio. He says he has raised more than $34,000 for Family SOS so far this year. “It generates funds for people in Nova Scotia, and we have been donating there for several years now,” he said. Giacomantonio said his brother Carman also puts an impressive Christmas display at his home up the street, with donations going to the local food bank. “The community enjoys it, and I think the community benefits from it. Christmas is tough for some people so hopefully this raises a few spirits.” For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
