New Glasgow, N.S., police charge 5 youths with robbery, harassment

The New Glasgow Regional Police in Nova Scotia arrested five youths for allegedly targeting three other youths at a Tim Hortons/Wendy’s on Sunday.

Police responded to Westville Road around 3:15 p.m. and learned the suspects allegedly fled on foot to Highland Square Mall. Officers tracked down four of them on Terra Nova Avenue and the fifth on Park Street, according to a news release.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the five masked youths followed the victims from Lawrence Boulevard in Stellarton to the Westville Road restaurant,” the release reads. “Once inside, the suspects threatened the victims and stole an item of clothing.”

The five youths were charged with:

• robbery
• uttering threats
• criminal harassment
• wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence

Two of the youths have been released following a court appearance. Three of them are in custody.
