Two drivers have been arrested for “impaired-related offences” in two separate incidents in Cape Breton, according to Nova Scotia RCMP. Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 4 in Sydney River, N.S., on June 11. “Officers learned that an eastbound Toyota Prius, driven by a 20-year-old man from Dominion, was struck by a westbound Toyota Corolla driven by a 73-year-old woman from Howie Centre,” reads an RCMP social media post. The woman allegedly failed to comply with a roadside alcohol screening demand and was issued summary offence tickets and arrested for impaired driving. She was released and is due in Sydney provincial court on July 29. In the second incident, RCMP officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 105 in Millville where the vehicle had gone over the guardrail. “Officers observed signs of alcohol consumption from the driver. A roadside breath test resulted in a fail. The 23-year-old man from Florence was arrested for impaired driving,” says RCMP.
