RCMP asking public for assistance following assault in Moncton, N.B.

Police in New Brunswick are asking the public for help following an assault in Moncton.

Members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to an assault reported outside a residence on Lancaster Road at approximately 1:44 a.m. on June 20.

Police found an unconscious man when they arrived on the scene who allegedly sustained injuries during the assault, said a news release. He was transported to hospital. Police said they learned a second man was allegedly assaulted but left the scene.

Both men, who are in their early 30s, suffered what were believed to be serious, non-life-threatening injuries, said the release.

Cpl. Jesse Lymburner with the Codiac Regional RCMP said no one has come forward but police know there were several people present during the assault.

“Someone knows what happened,” said Lymburner. “We know a length of time has passed since the incident, but we’re determined to pursue all tips and lay charges in connection with this serious assault. If you have information, photos or video footage of the incident, please get in touch with us.”

Police are asking witnesses to contact the Codiac Regional RCMP or Crimestoppers should they wish to remain anonymous.

The investigation is ongoing.
