The Université de Moncton and Vitalité Health Network announced Friday a new health research institute will be coming to New Brunswick. According to the announcement, the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute is now transforming into the New Brunswick Health Research Institute (NBHRI). It will also be expanding its scope to include other health issues. The announcement says the institute will be bringing together researchers from the province’s francophone university and hospital networks. “The Health Research Institute reflects the strength of collaboration and our commitment to generating practical, sustainable solutions to the challenges facing our health system, while strengthening clinical and scientific excellence within our communities,” said Dr. France Desrosiers, president and CEO of Vitalité Health Network. The NBHRI will also play a central role in training the next generation of scientists, according to the announcement. “By joining forces with Vitalité Health Network, we are fostering a true synergy in health research in New Brunswick—advancing both scientific knowledge and its practical applications for the benefit of the community,” said Dr. Denis Prud’homme, president and vice-chancellor of the Université de Moncton.
