Man pleads not guilty to sexually assaulting people at N.B. nursing home

A 69-year-old man will go to trial next year after pleading not guilty to 14 counts of sexual assault at a Saint John, N.B., nursing home.

Kevin McGrath was charged in March by the Saint John Police Force for alleged offences at Loch Lomond Villa between Dec. 26, 2025, and Jan. 19, 2026.

About two dozen family members of the alleged victims were in the Saint John Law Courts for McGrath’s appearance on Tuesday, just as they were for his first court appearance in May.

A publication ban prevents the identification of any of the alleged victims.

The case is scheduled to have a pre-trial hearing in September, with a trial scheduled between Feb. 1 and 5, 2027.

Police previously said they launched an investigation after receiving information about possible offences on Jan. 21. They arrested McGrath on March 3.

Loch Lomond Villa is a 100-bed long term care facility in Saint John spread across four resident houses.

The New Brunswick government said it would review safety and security procedures at nursing homes across the province in response to the allegations.

On Tuesday, the province released the results of that review.
