Inmate serving life sentence dies at Atlantic Institution

An inmate serving a life sentence at the Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B., has died.

Calvin Lewis, 55, died on Monday, according to a news release from the Correctional Service of Canada. He had been serving a life sentence since July 5, 2023.

“As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances,” the release reads. “CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.”

Lewis’s next of kin have been notified.
