Video of a crash that caused a fuel spill on a highway coming into Saint John, N.B., has emerged online. The video posted in the Skilled Truckers Canada Facebook page shows an SUV driving west in the eastbound lane coming into Saint John when it collides with a dump truck head on. Saint John Police Staff Sgt. Shawna Fowler says the driver is expected to fully recover from their injuries but did not specify them. The crash happened on Tuesday morning. Police continue to investigate what led to the crash. When asked about potential charges to the driver of the SUV, Fowler said there is potential. The accident resulted in an unspecified amount of diesel leaking from the dump truck’s fuel tank. The New Brunswick Department of Environment says remediation of the site is ongoing and no impacts have been observed to nearby wetlands. Earlier Friday traffic was reduced to one lane in both directions to allow crews to work. There is no word on how long the fuel spill cleanup will take.
