Canadian Forces Snowbirds to perform in Moncton, N.B., this summer

The City of Moncton has announced it will host a Snowbirds aerobatic performance on June 28.

The demonstration will take place at Bore Park along the city’s waterfront and will be open to the public.

“Welcoming the Snowbirds to Moncton is a tremendous opportunity for our community. We’re pleased to host this nationally recognized demonstration team and to offer residents and visitors the chance to experience the show,” says Deputy Mayor Thériault in a news release from the city.

“We’re incredibly excited to be in Moncton on June 28 during the Snowbirds’ 55th anniversary season,” says Maj. Maciej Hatta, Snowbird 1 team lead.

The top speed of the aircraft is 750 km/h, but during a performance they usually stay between 165 to 590 km/h, according to the Government of Canada.

In many formations, the distance between each Snowbird jet is about four feet. The aircraft weighs around 7,170 lbs.

“Each performance is meant to inspire young Canadians by showcasing the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of the Canadian Armed Forces,” says Hatta.

“We hope to spark curiosity, pride, and a sense of possibility in the next generation while sharing a memorable experience with the entire community.”
