Tancook Island ferry out of service again

CTV Atlantic: Tancook Island residents concerned about ferry service

The Tancook Island ferry in Nova Scotia is out of service again.

The William G. Ernst, which transports passengers between Chester and both Little and Big Tancook Islands, will be out of commission for the next two weeks.

The reason for the shutdown is a failed port engine.

The province has chartered a boat to provide transportation back and forth to the islands while the ferry undergoes repairs, which started on Saturday.

With two weeks to go until the start of lobster season in that area, some residents say they’re worried about whether the bait needed to set the traps will get there on time.
