A 10-year-old child injured in a head-on collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser east of Perth, Ont. has died in hospital. Emergency crews responded to the collision on Highway 7, between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7, just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Police say an OPP officer was on patrol in a marked cruiser when it was struck by an oncoming pick-up truck. “There were three people in the pick-up. The injured child was transported to a regional trauma centre by Air Ornge, but was tragically declared deceased the following day,” the OPP said in a media release on Monday. “The two other people remain in hospital, being treated for serious injuries.” The OPP officer suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the Lanark County OPP continues to investigate the crash.
