Rear-Admiral Pascal L. Belhumeur is now responsible for thousands of personnel in the Royal Canadian Navy along the East Coast. Belhumeur was named commander of the Maritimes Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) and Joint Task Force Atlantic (JTFA) during a ceremony on the HMCS William Hall in Halifax on Tuesday. He took over command from Rear-Admiral Josée Kurtz. Along with his Navy duties, Belhumeur will conduct domestic operations and lead Canadian Armed Forces continental operations across Atlantic Canada. “I am grateful for the trust that has been placed in me and look forward to serving alongside our exceptional military members and civilian employees,” Belhumeur said in a news release. “The professionalism, dedication, and excellence demonstrated by our people is recognized across the Canadian Armed Forces and with our Allies, and I am committed to building on the strong foundation established by Rear-Admiral Kurtz.” There are roughly 10,700 military and civilian personnel who are part of the MARLANT defence team.
