Work in Jasper National Park repairing fire-affected roads is expected to disrupt traffic through the end of October. Parks Canada said in a media release that the safety mitigation project work is being done on five roads near the park’s townsite: Highway 93A (Wabasso Road), Marmot Road, Whistlers Road, Maligne Road and Cavell Road, which is completely closed. Drivers can expect single-lane alternating traffic with periodic stoppages on the roads under construction. A wildfire in the area two years ago burned 330 square kilometres of the park and destroyed 350, or one-third, of the townsite’s buildings. The Jasper townsite is 315 kilometres west of Edmonton.
