Man, 19, charged three months after fatal crash in Dartmouth: Halifax police

Halifax Regional Police say they have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision in Dartmouth, N.S., in September.

Police say officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on School Street around 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 25.

A car struck a tree and three people were extracted from the vehicle, said police.

A 19-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead on scene by Emergency Health Services.

A second passenger, a 19-year-old man, was transported to hospital where he later died.

Police say the driver, Tomas Ryan MacEachern was arrested on Tuesday.

He will appear in Dartmouth provincial court on February 23 to face the following charges:

• operating a conveyance impaired causing death (2 counts)
• operating a conveyance over legal limit causing death (2 counts)
• dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death section (2 counts)
• flight from peace officer
