Worker dies after falling from apartment roof: Manitoba RCMP

The death of a 25-year-old man who fell from a roof while working is under investigation.

A 25-year-old man has died after he reportedly fell from the roof of an apartment building he was working on in Portage la Prairie, Man., on Monday.

RCMP were called to the apartment block on 14th Street Northwest at roughly 10:30 a.m. When they arrived, EMS crews were providing care to a man on the ground.

According to an RCMP news release, the man was working as a roofer and fell approximately 12 to 15 feet to the ground. The release said the man did not appear to have been wearing a safety harness at the time of the fall.

The roofer, who was from Portage la Prairie, died at the scene.

RCMP and Manitoba Workplace Health and Safety are investigating.
