Woman threatened with replica handgun in Manitoba hospital: RCMP

Two people have been charged after a woman was threatened with a handgun that turned out to be a replica in a Manitoba hospital.

According to RCMP, officers were called to a report of a woman being threatened inside the Morris General Hospital on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they learned two women were arguing inside when a man who was with one of the women allegedly flashed a handgun at the victim. RCMP said the two suspects then left the hospital.

Mounties said minutes later, a pickup truck hit a sign on Highway 75 and two people were seen running from the area.

The suspects were later found walking on Main Street in Morris and arrested.

A replica firearm was found by a RCMP service dog a short distance away.

A 20-year-old man from Plum Coulee has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and using an imitation firearm. He was detained in custody.

A 39-year-old woman from Emerson is facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting arrest and causing a disturbance.

RCMP said she is expected to be released Wednesday on an undertaking.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
