The third week of the high school football season in the city has come to end. There were five games on Friday, with Springfield securing the biggest lead of the night 40-6 over Kildonan East. River East kept Maples to a single score, 29-7, while Vincent Massey secured a 22-9 victory over Elmwood. Steinbach pulled off a tight win over Crocus 21-16 and Portage grabbed the victory over Beaver Brae 28-13. There was one game on Saturday, a special 100th anniversary contest for St. Paul’s. They hosted Brandon’s Vincent Massey, and despite the rain, St. Paul’s was able to pull off the 36-10 during the anniversary celebration. Taking a look at the standings after three weeks, Miles Mac remains undefeated and in first place in the Potter Division. Oak Park is also 3-0 on the season thus far and has top spot in the Vidruk Division. West Kildonan and River East are both undefeated and tied for first in the Gustafsson Division. Meanwhile, St. Norbert sits atop the Currie Division, again with a 3-0 record. Week four gets underway with JV action on Tuesday.
