Thunderstorms bringing large hail, gusty winds to parts of Manitoba: ECCC

A number of Manitoba communities could be in store for a stormy day ahead.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued an extreme thunderstorm warning Wednesday afternoon for Glenboro-South Cypress, Neepawa, Carberry, Rosedale, and Holland.

According to the weather agency, meteorologists are tracking severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts upwards of 90 km/h, toonie- to ping pong-size hail, and 50 to 75 millimetres of heavy rain.

Meanwhile, a number of southwestern communities, including Brandon, Virden and Russell, are under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Toonie-sized hail and wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h are possible through this region and the Parklands, ECCC warned.
