Two companies being recommended for Winnipeg waste collection

Two companies are being recommended for waste collection services in the city.

In a report, the public service suggests the City of Winnipeg award Municipal Waste Management Ltd. the job for area one with a contract of over $19.6 million per year.

It also recommends GFL Environmental Inc. to service area two with a contract of over $17.3 million per year.

The contracts would be in place from Feb. 1, 2027 to Jan. 31, 2032.

Area one is made up of the majority of the west side of the Red River, while area two comprises of the east side and a small part of southwest Winnipeg.

The report is set to go before the standing policy committee on water, waste and environment on March 2. It is available online.
