More severe thunderstorms are threatening parts of Manitoba less than 24 hours after it was pummeled by another intense spring deluge. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued severe thunderstorm yellow watches for a chunk of southeastern Manitoba on Wednesday afternoon, including Winnipeg, Pinawa, Portage la Prairie and Morden. The weather agency forecasts a passing cold front will combine with an unstable airmass, brewing conditions ripe for the development of severe thunderstorms in the area early Wednesday afternoon. Primary hazards of this system include large hail, strong wind gusts and precipitation. “Heavy rainfall is expected to impact already waterlogged areas from last night’s storms. So further flash flooding will also be a risk in flood-prone areas,” ECCC wrote. This is a developing story. More details to come.
