Scanterbury man dead after highway crash: Selkirk RCMP

RCMP in Selkirk are investigating a two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a Scanterbury man.

Mounties were called to the scene at 11:16 a.m. Thursday on Highway 4, at the intersection of Provincial Road 508 in the Rural Municipality of St. Clements.

According to a media release, a vehicle driven by a 62-year-old man from Scanterbury was travelling northeast on Provincial Road 508 when it collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer. The truck, driven by a 21-year-old man from Arborg, Man., was heading northwest on Highway 4.

The 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Police believe the 62-year-old man failed to stop at a stop sign before crashing into the truck.

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
