Pair of teens arrested for allegedly firing guns in downtown area: Winnipeg police

Two teens have been arrested after police say they were firing guns in the downtown area earlier this week.

Police said officers were called to four reports of shots being fired between May 12 and 13.

The first happened around 4 a.m. on May 12 when rounds were shot towards a home in the 200 block of Beverly Street from the back lane. Police said no one was hurt but one of the shots did go through the home and was stuck in a wall.

The second incident happened around 4:26 p.m. when shots were fired into the air in the 500 block of Agness Street. No one was injured.

The last incident on May 12 happened around 8:45 a.m. when, again, shots were being fired into the air in the back lane of the 300 block of Toronto Street. No one was injured.

Police said officers were able to find 9 mm casings from all three shootings.

The next day at 1:24 a.m., police were called again for reports of shots being fired into the air in the 400 block of Toronto Street. No one was injured.

Officers went to the area and found two people wearing face masks and they were arrested.

Police said a 9 mm gun, magazine, crack cocaine and $3,800 in cash were found during the arrest.

Two 17-year-old males have each been charged with a number of gun- and drug-related offences, and both remain in custody.

None of the charges have been tested in court.
